The Daytime Bus pilot project is now underway, operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as part of our broader transportation initiative. This follows successful trials of morning and evening buses, along with the
680 Night Market shuttle.
Since its launch on April 23, 2024, the Daytime Bus has been providing transportation every Tuesday and Thursday. Initially connecting the
Belau National Hospital with the
Surangel Supercenter, the service aims to expand based on user feedback.
With a fare of $1.00 (cash only, Please pay exact amount), the Daytime Bus ensures accessibility for all, offering free rides to those aged 17 and under. Its purpose is to cater to the transportation needs of the public, especially those who cannot drive, lack access to cars, or seek to reduce gas expenses.
This initiative represents a significant move towards reducing the island's dependence on automobiles. By promoting public transportation, we're fostering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation system in Palau, with support from the
Japan International Cooperation Agency,
Ministry of Human Resource, Cultural, Tourism, & Development,
Ministry of Education, and the
Palau Visitors Authority.
