Promoting Smoked Tuna and Skipjack with Pelagic Fish Recipes

Skipjack tuna and other pelagic fish are a healthy food choice. Increasing their consumption can help reduce fishing pressure on
coral reef fish, supporting sustainable fishing practices.

The JICA & BOF (Bureau of Fisheries) Blue Economy Project has published a recipe booklet featuring smoked tuna and
skipjack—also known as Namaribushi—as well as fresh tuna. These recipes were developed with the dedicated efforts of a JICA
nutritionist volunteer to encourage the domestic consumption of pelagic fish in Palau and contribute to the tourism industry.

The recipe booklet is available at the BOFI fish store. You can also enjoy Japanese dishes made with Namaribushi at Tori Tori
Restaurant. Additionally, Namaribushi packs, perfect as souvenirs, are available at RUR Giftshop along with the recipe.
