Honoring Our Dedicated Bus Drivers: Training Completes as Palau Daytime Bus Pilot Project Soars

Shoutout to Our Dedicated Bus Drivers for Their Training and the Success of the Palau Eco-Friendly Daytime Bus Pilot Project!

Palau Eco-Friendly Public Transportation would like to extend a massive shoutout to our incredible bus drivers, Mr. Steven Kengin and Mr. Carter Kahue! These outstanding individuals took time out of their busy schedules to attend training and briefing sessions, sharing invaluable insights on making our public transportation system more efficient and smooth-running. Their dedication to serving our community is truly commendable. Thank you, Mr. Kengin and Mr. Kahue, for your unwavering commitment and hard work!

We are thrilled to highlight the success of the Daytime Bus pilot project, which operates every Tuesday and Thursday as part of our broader transportation initiative. This exciting development follows the successful trials of our morning and evening buses, along with the popular 680 Night Market shuttle.

Since its launch on April 23, 2024, the Daytime Bus has been a game-changer, providing reliable transportation every Tuesday and Thursday. Initially connecting the Belau National Hospital with the Surangel Supercenter, the service is poised to expand based on user feedback, making it even more convenient for our community.

With an affordable fare of just $1.00 (cash only, please pay the exact amount), the Daytime Bus ensures accessibility for all, offering free rides to those aged 17 and under. This service is designed to meet the transportation needs of the public, especially for those who cannot drive, lack access to cars, or seek to reduce gas expenses.

This initiative marks a significant step towards reducing the island's dependence on automobiles. By promoting public transportation, we are fostering a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation system in Palau. This project is made possible with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Ministry of Human Resource, Cultural, Tourism, & Development, the Ministry of Education, and the Palau Visitors Authority.

Let's unite in this mission to create a greener, cleaner, and more vibrant Palau! Hop on the Daytime Bus and be a part of this exciting journey towards a sustainable future!
