Palau Visitors Authority Hosts Tourism Networking Event in Kaohsiung, Bringing Together Nearly 100 Travel Industry Professionals

The Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) Taiwan Office hosted the Palau Travel Industry Networking Event in Kaohsiung on October 5, bringing together 96 travel industry professionals and diving operators from southern Taiwan. The event marked the first large-scale travel industry networking event organized by the PVA Taiwan Office in Kaohsiung since the pandemic, providing a platform to showcase Palau’s tourism offerings, facilitate industry exchanges, and strengthen tourism ties between Palau and southern Taiwan.

Gaafar J. Uherbelau, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Palau to Taiwan, noted that Kaohsiung and Palau have maintained close and long-standing ties. The Palauan government looks forward to establishing a direct flight route between Kaohsiung and Palau in the future. Such a route would make it more convenient for Taiwanese travelers to visit Palau while also facilitating travel to Kaohsiung for Palauan residents seeking medical care, educational opportunities, and tourism experiences, further strengthening exchanges between the two sides.

Kao Min-lin, Director-General of the Tourism Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government, highlighted Kaohsiung’s diverse tourism attractions, including its harbor, coastline, cultural experiences, and culinary offerings. She welcomed more visitors from Palau to southern Taiwan and expressed hope for closer collaboration between Kaohsiung and Palau to develop tourism products tailored to the needs of travelers from southern Taiwan.

The event featured presentations by Palau’s tourism partners, including Lion Travel, Sunlight Holiday, and LT Dive, who introduced their latest tourism products, travel itineraries, and diving resources. China Airlines, Palau Hotel, and Palau Pacific Resort also contributed accommodation packages and lucky draw prizes, encouraging networking and interaction among attendees.

The PVA Taiwan Office stated that the event provided an important opportunity for travel industry professionals and diving operators in Taiwan to gain a deeper understanding of Palau’s diverse tourism offerings and explore new opportunities to expand the southern Taiwan market.
