Partnering for Palau’s Future: Tourism Leadership and Delegate Ngirmechaet Align on Sustainable Growth

Minister Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, together with PVA Board Members Hon. Governor Norman Ngiratecheboet of Airai State and Leah Asanuma, PVA Managing Director Kadoi Ruluked, Director of the Bureau of Tourism Janine Tewid, Strategic Planning Manager Sharrise Ngiraked, and Acting Marketing & Programs Manager Kiruu Kanai, met with Delegate Ngirmechaet to provide an overview of the important work being carried out by the Bureau of Tourism and Palau Visitors Authority to regulate, strengthen, and promote Palau’s tourism industry and our Pristine Paradise Palau brand.

A key highlight of the discussion was the continued growth in visitor arrivals. As of September 2026, Palau welcomed 63,948 visitors—representing a 26% increase compared to 50,899 visitors during the same period in 2025. This positive growth reflects the continued interest in Palau as a premier destination and the collective efforts of our tourism stakeholders.

The team also shared upcoming tourism initiatives and events, current industry challenges, and the strategic direction of Palau’s tourism development, including opportunities to further grow Wellness, Sports, and Arts Tourism while continuing to position Palau as a sustainable, culturally rich, and world-class destination.

We look forward to working closely with Delegate Ngirmechaet and the 12th Olbiil Era Kelulau as we continue building on this momentum, advancing our tourism priorities, and working toward achieving our projected visitor numbers by the end of the year.

With strong leadership, collaboration, and a shared vision, we remain optimistic about the future of tourism in Palau.
