On November 4, 2026, the Ministry of Human Resources, Culture, Tourism, and Development (MHRCTD), through the Bureau of Tourism, awarded initial funding to the Ngatpang State Government to officially commence improvements to the parking facilities and trail leading to Tabecheding Waterfall. Present for the occasion were Governor Jersey Iyar of Ngatpang State, Director Janine Tewid of the Bureau of Tourism, and Director Kadoi Ruluked of the Palau Visitors Authority.
Tabecheding Waterfall is an important natural and cultural asset of Ngatpang State. Its freshwater springs have long served as a valuable water resource and a place of recreation and relaxation for both residents and visitors. As Ngatpang State advances its community-based tourism initiatives, establishing safe, accessible, visitor-friendly infrastructure is essential to support tourism development while ensuring responsible site management. This landmark agreement represents an important step toward advancing sustainable tourism practices that enhance visitor experiences while safeguarding Palau's natural and cultural heritage.
The Ministry extends its sincere appreciation to the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its generous support through the Climate and Biodiversity Smart Grant Project (MSP), which has made this initiative possible. We also express our gratitude to Governor Jersey Iyar and the Ngatpang State Government for their continued cooperation and partnership. We look forward to strengthening this collaboration as we work toward a more sustainable tourism future that preserves our heritage, empowers local communities, and creates meaningful opportunities for future generations.
